As photographers we definitely have our favorite things to photograph, and as women we do like jewelry photography. That does not mean it is easy by any means, just nice to look at. When photographing jewelry we take a very methodical approach. Also, a thoughtful one. On occasion we are asked to come with the background ideas, and our thoughts on how to best show their jewelry product line. Usually, these days we go with a white background, and then we remove the background, otherwise know as a path. That way our clients can take it off the background in Photoshop and put it on any type of background the like, or furthermore for selling on Amazon.
Just because I said we especially like photographing jewelry doesn’t mean we don’t photograph all other types products. Like for instance: industrial, home accessories, healthcare and more.

Product photography of all kinds is what we do. And we do it well. Diane Metz / Photographer of Our Studio Productions, in Scotch Plains, NJ is a seasoned photographer. Shooting products from cosmetics, health-care, industrial to jewelry. It is attention to detail and lighting that make the difference in her images. Advertising photography has many faces, and we love to work with our clients to create their vision, whatever their product is. It is not always glamorous in the photo studio or on location, but the final outcome is the bottom line of all her shoots.
The health-care industry relating to advertising photography, is very interesting to us as photographers. Hiring and working with professional hand models is a very common thing. So many pieces of the image need to be in place before having the model come onto the set. For the most part we can use a ‘stand in’, which helps with the actual shooting time with the model. Lighting ahead of time for the product is a good way to get the more technical lighting finished, and then once the model is on set, we can adjust from there.
All our experiences with hand models have been good. They are of course as you would expect, very professional. Medical photography in our studio is a very controlled set up. Lighting pharmaceutical products needs to be extremely clean and precise.
One of the best parts of photographing medical and pharmaceutical products is the collaboration that goes into each image. Especially, when using a model, either hand or full body. I know it looks easy, but not so much when there are several different components to light, and capture in perfect balance. But, it can be done and is here as in these two images.
