Photography of medical products, devices and application illustrations need to be extremely accurate. Sharpness and clarity of our high-res images is something we take very seriously. When photographing close-ups, paying attention to not only the products, but also knowing how these products are used. Most times the art director and or client will come to our shoots, but sometimes not. Thank goodness for email. We can email the images and get approval to move on in minutes.
In commercial photography there is a lot of team work, even prior to the actual shoot, we plan with the art directors our approach to the shots themselves. In relation to backgrounds, colors and textures and how they will best show off their product. When photographing for medical catalogs, brochures or web it is a very well thought out process. Are you one of those people who do not read directions? Just look at the pictures? That is why our medical, pharmaceutical photography has to be spot on.
Professional Photography in Scotch Plains, NJ.
The health-care industry relating to advertising photography, is very interesting to us as photographers. Hiring and working with professional hand models is a very common thing. So many pieces of the image need to be in place before having the model come onto the set. For the most part we can use a ‘stand in’, which helps with the actual shooting time with the model. Lighting ahead of time for the product is a good way to get the more technical lighting finished, and then once the model is on set, we can adjust from there.
All our experiences with hand models have been good. They are of course as you would expect, very professional. Medical photography in our studio is a very controlled set up. Lighting pharmaceutical products needs to be extremely clean and precise.
One of the best parts of photographing medical and pharmaceutical products is the collaboration that goes into each image. Especially, when using a model, either hand or full body. I know it looks easy, but not so much when there are several different components to light, and capture in perfect balance. But, it can be done and is here as in these two images.

The holidays are finally over and now it’s get back at it time. We actually love what we do so coming back to the studio is no biggie. Moreover, we came back to having several projects awaiting us. Firstly we heard from an agency that we haven’t worked for quite some time. Diane and I are glad to hear from them again and their new pharmaceutical packaging is outstanding.
Another client we enjoy working with manufactures custom made orthotics. Everyday is something different, and our life can change hourly. Just how we like it.
